Destination hotel in Troms
Hotel Buvika is located in a historic northern Norwegian coastal landscape on Kvaløya in Troms. The hotel preserves existing, historic building typologies such as fishing village, net dry and down village and combines this with a modern, site-appropriate expression. The facility is divided into several smaller volumes with a scale that matches the existing buildings on the site. The hotel's outdoor areas are sheltered from the weather and wind and open up to the afternoon sun. Nature is protected and enriches the experience of the hotel. The diversity of plant and animal life is strengthened through the establishment of varied biotopes that play in layers with the natural coastal vegetation. The down weather tradition is resumed for the eider and this interaction between people and birds is displayed in the hotel. The hotel rooms are designed so that all guests have their own private sea view, shielded from view, while the hotel's spa is placed at the far end, exposed in the Arctic landscape.
